Carter Temple Sunday School: Class Descriptions, Class Names, Teachers and Meeting Rooms.


Beginners - Children of the ages 3-6 are introduced to God’s Word at an impressionable age, at which time we strive to begin molding their minds spiritually. Katrina Richardson, Harold’s Corner.

Junior - Bible Children, ages 7-9, focus on belief in Christ and His teachings. Attention is given to faithful studying, the guidance of Godly parents, teachings in love and concern for others, and the importance of a positive attitude. Diane Brice, Shanta Adams, Room 8.

Christian Idealists - Children, ages 10-11, work to increase their understanding of scriptures and build strong Christian character. Special attention is given to student’s daily lives. Students explore ways of using Christian values on a continuing basis. Derek Moore, SJ Laws Fellowship Hall.

Under the Cross Youth - ages 12-17, focus on the concept of patterning one’s life after Jesus’ teachings. Each lesson is correlated to the various experiences youth encounter today. In depth discussions are held concerning the lesson aims, similar conflicts in today’s society, and resolving these difficult situations based on Jesus’ teachings, His life and commandments. Remnants of God - Members of this class examine the background of each scripture at a detailed level. The class seeks to understand the surrounding circumstances in each lesson to provide a greater understanding and to see the direct application in today’s society. Rev. Faithful Workers - Students are encouraged to study the scriptures daily to renew their faith and apply the scriptures to their daily living. Autry Murray, Easter Hunt, Eloise Patton, Room 1.

Good News - Members of this class are devoted to the concept that continued study and application of God’s Word is necessary in understanding that God’s kingdom begins here on earth. Members focus on letting their Christian spirit shine, exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit in their daily living. Juanita Patrick, Deeatra Love-Blanchard, Melvin Simms, Grey door room – main level.

Bible Seekers -  Class focuses on “only what one does for Christ will last”. Members are encouraged to share their hearts and love of God with others. Carrie McMorris, Louise Garland, Bernice Wilkins, Ushers room.

Aspiring Faith Pathfinders - Students believe that divine instruction is needed daily to be triumphant over life’s challenges. Class aims  to increase each student’s love and understanding of the scriptures.  Dr. William Lackland, Gwendolyn Lackland, SJ Laws Fellowship Hall.

Faith Builders - Lively group discussions based on the designated lesson and its relation to actual life experiences. Attention is given to applying God’s Word to 21st century life. Diana Doss, Kimberly Banks, Vivian Taylor, Alaric Dancy, Balcony of Sanctuary.

New Members Training Class - Training course for new members and anyone interested in CME history and current CME practices. Additionally, attention is given to Christian rituals and church etiquette. Each class closes with a 15-minute review of the Sunday School lesson. A requirement for receiving the Right Hand of Fellowship. Various Church Lounge
