Guiding principle from scripture: Ephesians 5:21-33, Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives should be subordinate to their husband’s as to the Lord. For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.
The Couples’ Ministry is a fellowship of married couples that will meet on a monthly basis in Christian love. The ministry is intended to help couples strive toward becoming “one flesh by means of presentation, exchange of ideas, and sharing of experiences with a Christ centered focus”.
Our prayer within the Couples’ Ministry is to produce spiritual growth and family development. We want to produce an environment within the home that serves as a fertile training ground and a safe haven for our children. Another objective is to provide couples a “safe environment where they are free to discuss issues that concern them without fear of becoming ridiculed or being the topic of malicious gossip”.
The Couples’ Ministry cannot provide professional counseling service, but through the sharing of ideas, can help couples realize that the problems they face are not insurmountable. Also, when couples feel free to share, they will realize that they aren’t alone in the struggle to keep a family intact. They will realize that most couples are experiencing the same issues around managing combined finances, raising children, resolving marital conflict, communicating effectively, etc.
Finally, as with all church ministries, it is about winning souls for Christ.
